Part Time Transactional Attorney Jobs in Texas (NOW HIRING)

Part Time Transactional Attorney information

What is a part time transactional attorney?

A Part Time Transactional Attorney is a lawyer who works fewer hours than a full-time attorney and primarily handles legal matters related to business transactions rather than litigation. Their work may include drafting contracts, negotiating deals, advising clients on regulatory compliance, and managing mergers or acquisitions. These attorneys typically assist businesses and individuals with legal paperwork and agreements, ensuring all transactions are legally sound. Working part time allows for a flexible schedule, which can be appealing to both employers and attorneys seeking work-life balance.

What types of clients and matters does a part time transactional attorney typically handle, and how is workload managed in a part-time arrangement?

Part Time Transactional Attorneys often work with small to mid-sized businesses, startups, or non-profits on contracts, entity formation, mergers, or compliance matters. In a part-time role, workload is typically managed by focusing on discrete projects or providing ongoing advisory services on a limited basis, rather than handling high-volume transactions. Communication with clients and collaborating attorneys is often structured around flexible schedules, with clear expectations on availability and deliverables. This arrangement allows attorneys to maintain a healthy work-life balance while still contributing meaningfully to client needs.

Both roles require a JD and bar license but differ significantly in work environment and daily tasks.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time transactional attorney, and why are they important?

A Part Time Transactional Attorney needs a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, active bar membership, and a solid understanding of contract law, corporate transactions, and regulatory compliance. Familiarity with legal research databases, document management systems, and contract drafting software is typically required. Strong negotiation, attention to detail, and time management skills help attorneys build client trust and efficiently handle diverse legal matters on a part-time basis. These skills ensure accurate legal work, effective risk mitigation, and client satisfaction in a flexible work arrangement.
