Job description

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Luzerne County Transportation Authority is seeking an outgoing and customer-focused Part Time Dispatcher to join our dynamic team. The Dispatcher will play a vital role in ensuring efficient transportation operations while providing the highest level of service to our customers. This position requires excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences. 20 - 25 hours weekly. Must be available for nights and alternating Saturdays.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service Excellence:
    • Greet and assist customers with inquiries regarding transportation services.
    • Provide timely and accurate information about routes, schedules, and fares.
    • Address and resolve customer complaints and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
    • Creating and Updating Ride Accounts
  • Scheduling and Coordination:
    • Monitor and coordinate daily transportation schedules to ensure timely pickups and drop-offs.
    • Assign trips to drivers based on availability, efficiency, and customer needs.
    • Communicate any changes or delays to drivers and customers promptly.
  • Operational Support:
    • Utilize dispatching software to track vehicles and manage routes effectively.
    • Collaborate with drivers to ensure adherence to safety protocols and service standards.
    • Prepare and maintain records of daily operations, including passenger counts and service incidents.
    • Complete cross-training initiatives with Fixed Route and Shared Ride as well as cross-train with Customer Service for the Front Office and Intermodal.
  • Problem-Solving:
    • Proactively identify and address potential service disruptions or delays.
    • Develop creative solutions to enhance the overall customer experience.
    • Work closely with the Operations Manager to implement improvements in service delivery.


SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education in transportation or customer service is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a dispatching or customer service role preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using computers and dispatching software.
  • A commitment to providing exceptional customer service and a positive attitude.
  • Bilingual or Spanish speaking a plus
