Job description

Description

We are looking for a reliable, organized, and compassionate Thrift Store Associate to join our Upscale Resale team. The Thrift Store Associates provides excellent customer service assisting customers, agency clients and donors with purchases and donations while creating a welcoming shopping experience. The ideal candidate will have retail experience including opening, closing and cash handling. This is a part-time position that offers the opportunity to move into the role of shift lead based on experience and performance.


Reports to: Thrift Store Manager

Supervises: Assigned interns and volunteers



Primary Functions:

  • Create and maintain a welcoming, clean environment at the Thrift Store.
  • Maintain an excellent rapport with donors, customers and volunteers.
  • Sorting donated materials and setting up store displays for merchandise.
  • Provide customer service by greeting customers, responding to customer inquiries and managing complaints.
  • Maintain appropriate records and reports on store activities that include accurately reporting and depositing daily sales receipts
  • Maintain a sanitary and safe working environment
  • Participate in DCFOF staff and education meetings as requested

Requirements


Prerequisites:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other Windows based programs.
  • Retail experience

Preferences:

  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Thrift Store experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs.
