About Wolfe's Neck Center
Wolfe's Neck Center for Agriculture & the Environment is building an ecologically and economically resilient food system in the Northeast through regenerative agriculture. Based on a diversified, organic farm of over 600 conserved acres on the coast of Maine, our nonprofit works to accelerate food systems change through public education, farmer training and market development, and agricultural research and innovation. With its demonstration farm, oceanfront campground, wooded trails, and historic buildings, our vibrant campus serves as a unique hub for education and exploration.
Wolfe's Neck Oceanfront Camping (WNOC)
Wolfe's Neck Oceanfront Camping is a vital part of the Wolfe's Neck Center organization and its mission. For over 50 years, WNOC has welcomed campers from all over the world to our more than 600 acre campus, including four miles of oceanfront along Maine's coastline. Encompassing 150 tent and RV sites, 5 Cabins and A-Frames as well as comfort and quiet camping options, WNOC provides a variety of outdoor camping and recreation experiences to help individuals and families connect with the outdoors, food, and farming.
Position Summary
WNOC Campground & Recreation Staff are the forward facing team that make sure our thousands of yearly visitors have a welcoming, safe, and meaningful experience at Wolfe's Neck Center. From answering guest questions, ringing up Farm Store & Farm Cafe purchases, and checking in campground reservations, to operating our Recreational Rentals program, Campground & Recreation staff are friendly and informative ambassadors for the entire organization.
Responsibilities
Farm Store & Farm Cafe
Provide a friendly and welcoming environment to all visitors across the campus as an ambassador for Wolfe's Neck Center.
Operate a Point of Sale system (Square) and cash register for sales in either our Farm Store or Farm Cafe.
Perform campground check-in duties including answering questions, explaining policies, and promoting programs and experiences.
Communicate regularly with other departments (farmers, education team, facilities) to stay informed about events & programs.
Learn and use an online platform (Camp Life) for campground reservation management Assist in Farm Store tasks in collaboration with the Campground Manager, other Farm Store Staff and Supervisors i.e. stocking, labeling, etc.
Perform other duties as requested by the Visitor Experience Supervisor and Campground Manager, such as watering gardens and sorting recycling.
Recreational Rentals (Paddle sports, bikes, and camping gear rentals).
Register visitors for recreational rentals and educational programs Support the Paddle Sports operation:
Select appropriate equipment for participants.
Provide information about water safety and appropriate routes.
Assist guests with launching boats and paddleboards.
Monitor environmental conditions and, in consultation with the Campground Manager, cancel or hold rental sessions if warranted.
Maintain the cleanliness of all rental equipment and perform basic maintenance.
Support the Bike Rental operation.
Select appropriate equipment for participants based on proper fit.
Deliver important information about bike safety and notes about the area.
Maintain the cleanliness of all bikes and perform basic maintenance.
Support the Camping Gear Rental program.
Gather appropriate equipment in advance of guest arrival and confirm quality & cleanliness.
Greet guests on arrival and provide important information about the care and use of the equipment.
Verify all equipment is returned clean and in good condition.
Break down equipment, re-pack it, and store it appropriately.
Qualifications:
Strong customer service skills, with experience in a retail or hospitality setting Experience using 'Square' Point of Sale software or similar systems.
Ability to work well under pressure and in busy environment.
Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to manage time effectively and switch between tasks quickly.
Basic knowledge about outdoor recreation and recreational equipment.
Maintain professional working relationships with staff, volunteers, and visitors.
Highly organized, energetic, and collaborative team player.
Flexible in regards to work assignments and task flow.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: lifting up to 40 lbs solo (up to 70 lbs in tandem) with frequent carrying, crouching, walking, kneeling; use of hand trucks and the operation of a golf cart and UTV side by side, ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain and wind.
Requirements:
This is a seasonal position that runs through November 1st.
Evenings, weekends, and holiday work will be required due to the 7 day- a-week operations of the campground.
This position can be part time or full time, depending on the needs of the selected applicant.
WNOC Staff must legally be able to work in the United States (we cannot provide VISA sponsorship)

Benefits
Hourly rate of $17.00 - $18.00, based upon experience, to be paid on a semimonthly basis
on the 5th and 20th of the month
