Job Description:
The role of a Registered Nurse (RN) in Same Day Surgery is dynamic and requires a combination of clinical skills, critical thinking, and effective communication to contribute to successful surgical outcomes. implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. This individual honors patient's mind, body, and spirit by respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of each individual. The Registered Nurse is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness.
  • Assessment and identification of patient needs and implementation of appropriate interventions considering the needs of patient populations per department scope of service.
  • Delegation of nursing care activities and provisions of supervision; establishes and maintains a plan for the delivery of nursing care; assures that nursing care interventions and activities are directed to resolve problems; and performs technical aspects of care competently.
  • Has access to medication storage areas as required for job tasks. Follows Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures.

Requirements:
  • Current RN licensure recognized by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing is required.
  • Current RN licensure or temporary Kentucky work permit
  • Associate Degree in Nursing with a Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Completion and maintenance of BLS.
  • ACLS & PALS (or ENPC) within 6 months of hire.
  • NIHSS within 3 months of hire.
  • Successful completion of all competencies as identified on the departmental nurse competency grid.
