Part-Time Residence Hall Receptionist - Pool (PK)
Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: The incumbent will report directly to the Residence Hall Supervisor in all matters pertaining to residence halls and disciplinary problems. The incumbent will also help supervise residence halls on a duty schedule.
Job Duties
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
I. Maintain control of all entrances and exits at all times:
A. Lock and unlock all doors and gates at the proper times.
B. Check each door and gate at least once every hour while on duty unless
other matters such as discipline issues or safety issues take precedence.
Return to normal schedule once matter is resolved.
C. Report any door, gate, or lock malfunction immediately to the proper authority (at night, notify Campus Police and follow-up with residence hall supervisor).
D. Discourage loitering around the doors and gates.
E. Report any suspicious activity to Campus Police.
F. Be visible at all times by walking through lobbies and courtyard areas
frequently.
II. Maintain control of residence hall keys at all times:
A. Do not leave keys unattended or in an insecure location.
B. Do not let a student use keys for any reason.
C. When responding to the request of a student to unlock a door, check for
proper identification, and compare to room assignment to ensure the student is assigned to that room. Accompany the student to the room and unlock the door yourself.
D. If a student needs a key, refer them to the Residence Hall Supervisor.
Ill. Maintenance
A. Report maintenance issues to Residence Hall Supervisor.
B. Report emergency maintenance issues to maintenance personnel (water leaks, power outage, extreme safety hazards).
C. Report vandalism immediately including the person responsible if possible to the Residence Hall Supervisor.
IV. Other Duties
A. Control the noise level of both lobbies in Residence Halls.
B. Enforce all dormitory rules and regulations, and contact Campus Police if necessary.
C. Attend all staff meetings.
D. Facilitate student-to-student and student-to-staff interaction.
E. Be available during your shift.
F. Answer the residence hall telephone and college switchboard (after switchboard closes) in a professional manner by saying "Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, may I help you?"
V. Maintain confidentiality of student discipline problems and housing matters.
VI. Other duties as assigned by the Residence Hall Supervisor and Director of Student Life.

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Desirable Qualifications
Work experience in a professional setting
Skilled in the operation of personal computers and Microsoft Office (internet and email)
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Customer service experience
