 Job Summary
The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing all radiological procedures at South Boston Community Health Center in accordance with established standards, safety protocols, and quality expectations. 

Key Competencies & Responsibilities

  • Set up radiology equipment and adjust controls according to specific diagnostic procedures, following established techniques and protocols.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, ensuring comfort, safety, and modesty throughout the procedure.
  • Lift and assist patients on and off examination tables or equipment as necessary to achieve optimal imaging results.
  • Position patients accurately to obtain required radiographic views based on established procedures and physician orders.
  • Clearly explain examination procedures to patients before beginning each study.
  • Apply protective shielding and adhere to all radiation safety standards and guidelines.
  • Report unusual incidents, unexpected patient conditions, safety hazards, or equipment issues to the supervisor promptly.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to patients of all ages.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and ensure equipment is disinfected and prepared according to infection control procedures after each use.
  • Attend required in-service trainings and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives related to radiology services.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program
  • Current certification and registration as a Radiology Technologist

License/Certification:

  • BLS Certification (Preferred)
  • ARRT Certification (Required)
  • American Board of Radiology Certification (Required)
  • Mammography Certification (Required)
