TEACHER AIDE

POSITION OBJECTIVE: To provide support to the classroom teacher by performing daily duties and responsibilities that assist in the care and education of students.ย 

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS: The employee must be a Christian with an authentic and a mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who agrees to the HCS Statement of Faith, Charter of Core Values and Employee Covenant in both their professional conduct and personal lifestyle. The employee is committed to incorporating these qualities and standards in carrying out the calling to Christian education. In addition, the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships, representing Christ and HCS professionally and positively with the HCS community-at-large, including faculty and staff, Board members, parents, volunteers and others is crucial to the success of this role.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A HS diploma is required, and a teaching degree is ideal, but not essential. Experience working in a classroom or another setting with children is highly desired.ย

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the daily arrival and dismissal of studentsย 
  • Assist in lunch duties and recess duties for the grade level assignedย 
  • Tutor children individually or in small groups as directed by the classroom teacherย 
  • Assist the classroom teacher in daily duties as requested and assignedย 
  • Act as substitute teacher as the need arises and as requested by the school principal or designeeย 
  • ย Assist the classroom teacher in clerical work such as phone calls, grading, assisting with bulletin boards, typing, proofreading, daily classroom preparationsย 
  • Assist with special events within a grade levelย 
  • Assist with special activities and projects within a classroom or grade levelย

WORK ENVIRONMENT:ย  Primarily indoors in a classroom setting and around campus, and outdoors with some exposure to the elements is to be expected while assisting with student arrival, dismissal and recess duty.ย 

WORK SCHEDULE:ย  All positions follow the academic calendar. Full time positions are M-F with standard hours of 7:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. Part time hours vary..ย
