Key Responsibilities
This recruitment is open to current employees of the Business Taxes and Discovery/Sales section only.
Principal Duties
The Senior Tax Examiner will:
- Review and approve audits.
- Performs audits.
- Train staff on audit processes.
- Explain audit assessments, appeal procedures, penalty and interest computations to taxpayers.
- Represent the Business Taxes and Discovery Division in the appeals process.
- Help with compliance projects.
- Interpret tax laws, rules and policies
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who:
- has working knowledge of the Utah State Tax Commission policies and procedures
- has working knowledge of Excel
- has excellent customer service skills
- has the ability to communicate effectively

Salary
Starting salary will follow DHRM rules on transfers or promotions.
Preferences
Preference may be given to tax examiners with experience in sales tax.
