We are continuing to grow with the goal of expanding to 24/7 emergency care, and we are looking for experienced Veterinary Assistants and RVTs who want to be part of that growth.
If you enjoy emergency medicine, hands-on patient care, anesthesia and surgery, and working alongside a team that supports one another through busy shifts, we would love to meet you.
What You'll Do
As part of our ER team, you'll work closely with our veterinarians and fellow support staff to provide compassionate, efficient care to emergency and hospitalized patients. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring patients throughout anesthesia and during post-operative recovery
  • Monitoring hospitalized and critical patients and communicating changes to the medical team
  • Accurately documenting treatments, anesthesia monitoring, observations, and patient updates
  • Maintaining clean, organized, safe, and well-stocked treatment and surgical areas
  • Helping keep patient care moving efficiently during busy ER shifts
  • Supporting your teammates and contributing to a positive, collaborative hospital environment
Who We're Looking For
This position requires previous hands-on clinical experience. Because we regularly manage emergency procedures and surgical cases, candidates must be comfortable with anesthesia and assisting veterinarians in surgery.
Required qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a fast paced veterinary hospital setting
  • Hands-on anesthesia experience is required
  • Previous experience assisting veterinarians during surgical procedures is required
  • Comfortable monitoring patients under anesthesia and throughout recovery
  • Ability to recognize changes in patient status and communicate concerns appropriately
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients and responsibilities in a fast-paced ER environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate medical record keeping
  • Dependable, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a medical team

Recent graduates with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology are encouraged to apply if they have sufficient hands-on anesthesia and surgical experience through clinical rotations, externships, or previous veterinary employment.
Emergency, urgent care, specialty, and critical care experience are highly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Veterinary Assistants: $21-$26/hour, based on experience
  • Registered Veterinary Technicians: $27-$35/hour, based on experience
  • Scrub allowance
  • Continuing education opportunities
  • Career development and growth opportunities
  • Employee pet care discounts
  • Supportive and inclusive team environment
  • Opportunity to expand your emergency, critical care, anesthesia, and surgical skills
Why AEC?
Emergency medicine isn't predictable, and no two shifts are exactly the same. Our team sees a wide variety of cases, giving you the opportunity to strengthen your emergency, anesthesia, surgical, and critical care skills while making a meaningful difference for pets and their families.
We're looking for people who want to be involved in patient care, continue learning, and grow alongside an expanding emergency hospital.
