Job description

ย Low Voltage Cabling Technicianย 

Part-Timeย 

Salary: ย $35/hourย 

My client is looking for a part-time,ย Low Voltage Cabling Technician to install,ย terminate, test, troubleshoot, and document low voltage infrastructure for commercial clients. This positionย is responsible forย delivering high-quality structured cabling installations that support network, voice, wireless, security, and audio/video systems.ย 

The role works on site at client locations (a company vehicle will be provided).ย 

This role could grow into a full-time position.ย 

What will you do?ย 

  • Install structured cabling systems including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic, coaxial, and other low voltageย cabling.ย 
  • Pull, route, secure, label, andย terminateย cablesย in accordance withย ANSI/TIA standards and manufacturer specifications.ย 
  • Install cable pathways including J-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, conduit, sleeves, and raceways.ย 
  • Install andย terminateย patch panels, racks, cabinets, network enclosures, wall plates, and surface mount boxes.ย 
  • Perform copper and fiber testing and certification using approved test equipment.ย 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, one-line diagrams, and project drawings.ย 
  • Installย and supportย (including troubleshooting):ย 
  • Network infrastructureย 
  • Wireless access pointsย 
  • IP security camerasย 
  • Access control systemsย 
  • Intercom systemsย 
  • Audio/Video cablingย 
  • Document cable labels, test results, as-built drawings, and project completion reports.ย 
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.ย 
  • Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, and team members.ย 
  • Assist Project Managers with project progress, material needs, and scheduling.ย 
  • Follow OSHA safety regulations andย company safety policies at all times.ย 

Whatย doย you bring?ย 

  • High school diploma or GED.ย 
  • 2+ years of commercial low voltage or structured cabling experience.ย 
  • Experience installing and terminating Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.ย 
  • Ability to read construction drawings and cable schedules.ย 
  • Experience using cable certification and testing equipment.ย 
  • Knowledge of structured cabling best practices and installation standards.ย 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.ย 
  • Valid California Driver's License with clean driving record.ย 

Preferred Qualificationsย 

  • BICSI Installer Certification (preferred).ย 
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.ย 
  • Fiber termination and testing experience.ย 
  • Experience with UniFi, Cisco, Aruba, or similar networking hardware.ย 
  • Experience installing IP camera systems.ย 
  • Experience installing access control systems.ย 
  • Lift certification.ย
