Job Summary
TSMC Arizona is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structured Cabling Engineer to lead the design, planning, coordination, implementation, and maintenance of structured cabling infrastructure that supports our enterprise IT, advanced manufacturing, and data center environments. This role works closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to ensure network infrastructure is delivered on schedule, meets quality standards, and supports business operations.
Competencies
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Project Planning & Execution
  • Plan and coordinate structured cabling installation for office buildings, manufacturing facilities, and data centers.
  • Develop project schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and deployment plans.
  • Track project progress and ensure milestones are achieved on time.

Cabling Infrastructure
  • Design and manage copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
  • Review cable routing, cable tray layouts, conduits, and pathways.
  • Ensure compliance with TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC, and company standards.
  • Validate cable labeling, documentation, and as-built drawings.

Quality Assurance
  • Verify cable testing results (Fluke certification, OTDR, insertion loss, etc.).
  • Conduct site inspections and acceptance testing.
  • Ensure proper documentation before project handover.
  • Track punch list items until closure.

Documentation
  • Maintain cable databases and asset inventories.
  • Review and update AutoCAD drawings.
  • Prepare weekly project status reports.
  • Forecast resource requirements and installation schedules.

Cross-functional Coordination and Vendor Management
  • Manage structured cabling contractors and installation vendors.
  • Review vendor proposals, quotations, and statements of work.
  • Coordinate with construction, MEP, facility, ISEP and equipment teams to align installation activities.
  • Monitor installation quality and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Resolve installation issues and remove project roadblocks.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience managing installation vendors.
  • Knowledge and Familiarity of:
    • Cat6/Cat6A, SM/MM Fiber, MPO/MTP, LC/SC connectors, patch panels, cable management systems, TIA-568, BICSI, ANSI/TIA standards and NEC requirements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in structured cabling, network infrastructure, or data center deployment.
  • BICSI RCDD certification
  • PMP certification
  • Experience in semiconductor fabs or mission-critical facilities
  • Experience supporting large-scale construction projects
  • AutoCAD or Bluebeam experience

Physical Requirements
  • This role requires the ability to work across office, clean-room, and data center environments, performing tasks that range from standard office duties to specialized operations in controlled spaces, including the ability to occasionally stand, walk, reach, bend, and carry light objects.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard, mouse and other standard office equipment for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to complete any travel requirements, if applicable
  • Able to wear clean-room suit while standing and/or walking in the FAB as needed.

Shift Expectation
TSMC Arizona operates 24/7, 365 days a year. This position requires candidates to have the ability and willingness to work from Monday through Friday 9am-6pm, and work on-call as scheduled in connection with business needs. When on-call, candidates are expected to respond to the call 24x7 for that whole week.
