Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Under direct supervision, the Part Time Assistant II, Recreational Sports is primarily responsible for assisting students with their needs in the game room and sports fields areas; checking student IDs; providing support to students and sport club organizations. This person may also be asked to assist with special projects as assigned by the Office of Sports and Recreation, not limited to serving as the college mascot. Assist with running intramural and club sports, both on and off campus. Assist with Community Service Projects, as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Implement and promote sports and rec programs
  • Assist in maintenance of all athletic supplies and equipment
  • Assist in set-up and breakdown of Sports and Rec events
  • Develop activities that promote and increase student retention and success
  • Serve as a community resource person and represent the college when requested
  • Assist students, employees, and community members with questions related to the sports programs
  • Answer phone calls and emails in Sports and Rec department
  • Ensure safe and structured programs
  • Abide by all rules in college's Policy and Procedure manual, including safety waivers, recruitment of players, GPA, and eligibility guidelines
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Computer experience required
  • Email, Excel spreadsheets, MS Office, Power point
  • Telephone, fax, copy machines
  • Use of audio/visual equipment
  • Score clocks
  • Field lining equipment
  • Officiating intramural games
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Work hours will include evenings and weekends, outdoors in extreme heat and cold
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within first 30 days after hire

Salary
Hourly Pay Rate is $15.60.
