Stoneleigh-Burnham School, an independent girls’ boarding and day school for grades 7-12, is seeking a part-time Spanish teacher to teach one section of Spanish 1 for the 2026/27 school year.
Located in western Massachusetts, a short drive from the Five College Consortium (UMass Amherst, Smith, Mount Holyoke, Hampshire and Amherst College), Stoneleigh-Burnham School is the only girls’ school in New England to offer the IB Diploma Programme and attracts students from the local area and around the world. The ideal candidate will be passionate about world language education and demonstrate expertise in teaching Spanish to adolescent students with a range of different learning styles. Spanish 1 at Stoneleigh-Burnham School is part of the broader IB Middle Years Program, which encourages contextual, cross-cultural, and student-driven learning. Our World Language department currently uses the Reporteros curriculum from Klett World Languages, providing teachers with a broad range of materials and resources for lesson planning.
Classes take place between 8:00am and 3:30pm, though this part-time position only requires attendance during assigned class times. Each class meets three times a week for 50–65 minutes.

Duties and Responsibilities
● Teach one section of Spanish 1 for students in grades 7-9
● Support the academic/social/emotional development of all students
● Use effective classroom management strategies to promote a positive learning environment
● Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and continuity of curriculum
● Be responsible for ongoing student assessment
● Perform necessary routine tasks, including providing regular student feedback and communicating with families as needed
Qualifications:
● Fluent or native command of the Spanish language
● Bachelor’s or master’s (preferred) in Spanish, Spanish education, or a related field
● Experience teaching middle and high school-aged students in a school setting
● Professionalism and strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
● Ability to create a positive learning environment that challenges, supports, and motivates students
