General Summary
The Continuing Education (CE) Spanish Language Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality Spanish language instruction for Odessa College. This position involves teaching assigned courses and supporting students in achieving established course outcomes. The instructor is expected to continuously enhance instructional quality through the use of varied teaching methods and materials. Additionally, the role requires maintaining professional and collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and members of the community.
Specific Position Duties
  • Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate different learning styles of students.
  • Ability to utilize instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other appropriate media in instruction.
  • Knowledge and fluency of the Spanish language.
  • Teach assigned Spanish courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes. Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
  • Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of the content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule of work.
  • Maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning.
  • Maintain daily attendance rosters.
  • Submit student grades as requested to the Continuing Education Health Careers Director.
  • Submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Bilingual (fluent in the Spanish & English Language) and able to read, write and speak both English and Spanish proficiently.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher in Spanish.
  • Previous Spanish teaching experience.
