Job description

Description
Job Summary:
The Civil Superintendent II provides senior-level field leadership across assigned civil construction projects or work areas.
This role is responsible for supervising and mentoring superintendents and field leaders, overseeing daily jobsite
operations, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project plans, specifications, and
company standards. The Civil Superintendent II plays a critical role in coordinating resources, resolving field issues, and
supporting successful project delivery.
What you will do..
• Provide senior-level field leadership across assigned projects or work areas by directly supervising, coaching, and
mentoring superintendents, foremen, and field leaders. Establish clear expectations, promote accountability, and
support the professional development of field staff to ensure consistent performance and leadership continuity
across projects.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all daily jobsite operations, including work sequencing, crew assignments,
subcontractor activities, equipment utilization, and material procurement. Proactively manage site logistics and
short-term planning to maintain productivity, meet schedule milestones, and achieve production goals.
• Enforce all safety standards, company policies, and quality requirements across supervised crews and
subcontractors. Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture, conduct regular site inspections and safety
meetings, ensure corrective actions are implemented when deficiencies are identified, and maintain compliance
with all regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to
resolve field issues, coordinate construction activities, and align work sequencing with project schedules and
contractual requirements. Serve as a key point of contact for field execution and constructability input.
• Ensure all work is performed in strict accordance with contract documents, approved plans, specifications,
permits, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Identify potential conflicts or constructability issues
early and work with the project team to develop practical solutions.
• Monitor field productivity, manpower efficiency, and resource utilization. Identify risks, constraints, or inefficiencies
impacting schedule, cost, or quality, and implement corrective strategies to improve performance, maintain
progress, and minimize rework or delays.
• Support project startup, planning, and closeout activities, including participation in project scheduling, phasing
plans, site logistics development, and turnover processes. Assist in ensuring projects are properly staffed,
mobilized, executed, and closed out in alignment with company and client expectations.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist with the training, development, and evaluation of superintendents, foremen, and field personnel to
strengthen leadership capabilities and workforce readiness.
• Participate in internal meetings, progress reviews, safety audits, and coordination meetings to support effective
communication and alignment across project teams.
Revised 1/02/2026• Support company initiatives related to safety, quality control, operational excellence, and continuous
improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support project objectives, organizational goals, and overall field operations
Qualifications:
• 8-12 years of progressive heavy civil construction experience, including multi-project or multi-site leadership
(higher than standard Superintendent level).
• Proven success supervising other Superintendents, General Foremen, or large multi-crew operations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex civil scopes, tight timelines, and diverse teams.
• Associate degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite; familiarity with MAC, HCSS, HeavyJob, or Adobe systems preferred.
