Job Description:

Security OfficerProvides security services for hospital-owned buildings and premises to maintain the safety and security of patients, visitors, staff and the hospital assets.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
  • Exhibits the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally & with the public
  • Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision
  • Displays ability to effectively use radio and defensive equipment (i.e. collapsible baton, handcuff, pepper spray)
  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
  • Facility approved Pepper Gun training within the last day of the month after a 90-day grace period

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES

  • License as a DPSST Unarmed Private Security Professional by the State of Oregon (or ability to attain within 90 days)
  • Valid Oregon driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • SAFE class or organization approved workplace violence training or obtain within six (6) months of hire which must be obtained by the last day of the month after the six (6) month grace period
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Associates Degree in criminal justice, law enforcement or related field preferred

EXPERIENCE

One (1) year experience within the last three (3) years in security operations; or prior law enforcement or active police reserve preferred

  • Must be able to wear protective PPE as required
  • May be required to travel to various locations - buildings off the main hospital campus.
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
