Juneau International Airport (JNU) is seeking a permanent, a part-time Airport Engineer/Architect to join their energetic team of professionals helping shape the future of the airport.

This Engineering/Architectural Assistant II - Engineer/Architect I position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications. If hired at the lower level, the successful applicant will be promoted to the higher level upon meeting the minimum qualifications for the higher level, completing the training plan and demonstrating competency in the work as determined by the supervisor.

Under general direction of the Airport Architect/Engineer, provides technical and logistical support for airport planning, design, and construction. This part-time position provides essential depth to Airport design and construction administration. Researches, interprets, and applies FAA regulations, advisories, and policies to capital projects. Applies and follows CBJ procurement rules. Prepares clear and accurate reports, memoranda, and directives.

Creates, manages, and maintains projects office files at all project stages. WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION This position is part-time, working 15 hours per week. The position is based at Juneau International Airport and generally performs work during regular office hours Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m

The shift schedule would be determined upon hire by the Airport Manager based on the needs of the Airport design and construction team. Work hours may vary to coordinate with project requirements. Typical Responsibilities The Engineer/Architect FLEX provides technical and logistical support to the Airport Architect/Engineer in their development, administration, and oversight of airport planning, design, and construction for all manner of projects of all sizes at JNU.

Work spans airfield and landside facilities, including but not limited to pavements, lighting/electrical, utilities, buildings/systems, and specialty airport equipment (e.g., baggage systems, passenger boarding bridges). Typical tasks include scoping, condition surveys, planning/scheduling, budgeting and schematic-level estimating (coordinating with consultants for detailed estimates), design/drafting and records management, procurement, reporting, agency/tenant coordination and public engagement, consultant selection/management, construction administration/observation, and closeout. Collaborates closely with airport staff, federal, state and municipal agencies, tenants, consultants, and contractors to deliver projects aligned with the Airport Capital Improvement Plan (ACIP) and operational goals

This position ensures compliance with FAA grant protocols and recordkeeping, develops and tracks project budgets, and coordinates with airport administration, consultants, and contractors on annual capital project budgets. Responsibilities also include researching, drafting, and presenting reports, position papers, and operational updates to the Airport Board, tenants, and the public. As required, the incumbent will assist in developing project drawings and specifications, using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD and Revit.

The incumbent will also create and manage electronic project records, and scan and archive legacy paper documents. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Engineering/Architectural Assistant II - (Range 17) $35.92 - $39.60 per hour (DOQ) Engineering Assistant II Education: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited college in Engineering, Land Surveying, or Construction Management or a similar course of study

Substitutions: Progressively responsible experience in the practice of engineering, or journey level construction in one or more of the following fields: engineering design, drafting, surveying, inspection, construction management, materials testing, plan review, plan interpretation, or construction documents preparation may be substituted on a year for year basis. Examination: Successful completion of either the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) Examination may be substituted for the education. Requirements: A valid Drivers' License at time of appointment and for continued employment.

OR Architectural Assistant II Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or Construction Management; or CIDA accredited Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interior Design/Architecture. Substitution: Progressively responsible architectural, landscape architectural or design experience may be substituted for the education on a year for year basis. Requirements: Some positions may require a valid Drivers' License at time of appointment and for continued employment.

Engineering/Architectural Associate - (Range 19) $40.92 - $45.13 per hour (DOQ) Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Engineering, Land Surveying, Construction Management, or similar course of study. Experience: Two (2) years of experience equivalent to an Engineering or Architectural Assistant II with the City of Juneau. Substitution: Progressively responsible construction management, engineering or land surveying experience may be substituted for the education on a year for year basis

Requirements: A valid Drivers' License at time of appointment and for continued employment. Engineer/Architect I - (Range 21) $46.64 - $51.43 per hour (DOQ) Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment

Engineer or Land Surveyor: Alaska state law requires incumbents to be licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Land Surveyor (LS). Architect or Landscape Architect: Alaska state law requires incumbents to be licensed as a Professional Architect or Landscape Architect. Other Requirements: A valid Drivers' License at time of appointment and for continued employment.
