Job description

Job Summary

Responsible for circulating the library collection, collecting fines, oversees, and calls for overdue materials, performs collection maintenance, assists patrons with questions and problems with computers. Assists with the Theater Complex programming and maintenance. Employee is required to support activities of the Summer Reading Program (SRP) and perform all similar or related duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain regular and prompt attendance; physically present to work.
  • Performs circulation desk duties, including greeting patrons, checking in and out library materials, registering new patrons, collecting fines, and shelving.
  • Performs after hours work as required (nights and weekends)
  • Assist with emergency response as needed by city hall and local EOC.
  • Support with summer programs.
  • Decorates and maintains library space.
  • Maintains library public areas in a clean and orderly fashion by sustaining orderly shelves, refilling displays, and decorating library space as assigned.
  • Operates cash register.
  • Assists with monthly reports.
  • Files applications and answers phone.
  • Provides patron assistance service.
  • Assists with the Theater Complex programming and maintenance.
  • Assists with webpage committee as assigned and other interdivisional projects.
  • Works proficiently with basic computer software and assists patrons with computer use.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must have High School diploma, or equivalent (GED)
  • One (1) year of related work experience to perform such job.
  • Applicant must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at City's expense.
  • Applicant must have current valid Class "C" Driver's License and be insurable.
  • Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skill

  • Computing ability.
  • Proficient customer service.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional walking, standing, and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting, moving, or positioning objects up to 30lbs.
