Job Description
Works under the supervision of the Coordinator of Senior Citizens' Activities or Superintendent of Recreation. The Senior Center Recreation Aide is responsible for providing assistance and support in the coordination of Senior Center recreational programs.
Essential Job Functions
A Senior Center Recreation Aide may be called upon to do any or all of the following: (These examples do not include all of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform.)
  • Organize activities based on residents interests
  • Processes payments for schedule activities and entering into registration system
  • Coordinate with Travel Agents for scheduling extended trips
  • Coordinate with class instructors to schedule and advertise their offerings
  • Responsible for escorting seniors to and from excursions and trips.
  • Work with the City, venues and vendors for receiving payments
  • Prepare marketing to advertise scheduled activities in monthly newsletter, bulletin boards, flyer rack, social media, etc.
  • Organize separate folders for each activity, trip or class
  • Responsible for answering calls to senior center
  • Generate an up to date monthly Pool sign up sheet in pool room
  • Maintain travel bulletin boards
  • Assist with daily lunch program
  • Assist at front desk and dispatch desk when needed
  • Travel to City Hall on designated day with any mail or documents
  • Assist with room set up for any events at the senior center
  • Perform other duties as assigned

KSA
A Senior Center Recreation Aide, upon application, shall have the following training and experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A valid Michigan motor vehicle operator's permit.
Qualifications for Employment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office suite applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of My Senior Center Software
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and a positive attitude
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to be empathetic and understanding
  • Ability to work effectively with the public
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment: Computer, Printer, Fax, Scanner, Calculator
