Description Summary
The Part-Time Instructional Technologist Liaison supports faculty and students in the effective use of educational technology to enhance teaching and learning at Morton College. This position assists in creating instructional resources, conducting training sessions, and providing one-on-one support for faculty and students using the College's Learning Management System (LMS) and other instructional tools.
The Liaison collaborates closely with the full-time Instructional Technologist, academic divisions, and the Management Information Systems (MIS/IT) area to ensure consistent and innovative use of technology in instruction. The position requires staying current with emerging technologies, best practices, and trends in distance learning and digital education.
Duties & Responsibilities
Faculty & Student Support
  • Support faculty in the effective use of instructional technology in teaching and learning.
  • Provide small-group and one-on-one consultations for faculty and students on educational technology use.
  • Assist with conducting training workshops to enhance digital literacy and course design skills.

Learning Management System (LMS) Support
  • Support faculty with course setup, navigation, troubleshooting, and use of advance LMS features.
  • Asist with developing and maintaining documentation and user guides for Blackboard Ultra and related academic platforms.
  • Create short instructional videos, tutorials, and knowledge-based resources for faculty and students.

Course Development & Multimedia Support
  • Assist in the design and development of online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials, guides, and best practice documentation.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborate with academic departments, student support areas, and the MIS/IT department to strengthen technology use in instruction.
  • Participate in pilot initiatives and implementation of new instructional technologies.
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies that support teaching and learning.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an academic discipline or technology-related field
  • Minimum of two years' experience in an academic environment. • Experience designing and developing web-based courses and instructional materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively integrate technology into teaching and learning.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule to meet faculty and student needs.
  • Must demonstrate the Morton College core values of Compassion, Equity, Accountability, Innovation, and Excellence.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of trends and best practices in distance learning.
  • Experience supporting faculty and students in the use of Blackboard Ultra or other Learning Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with educational technology tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Turnitin, Respondus, Yuja, or similar applications.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (ADA, Section 508,WCAG) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
