Job description

Greenhills School, an independent college preparatory school serving students in grades 6-12, is seeking a part-time school bus driver to support transportation needs, primarily shuttling athletic teams. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: driving a Greenhills school bus, safely loading and unloading passengers at designated stops, and transporting students to various locations for athletic contests in the evenings and on weekends. The driver is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of both the vehicle and its passengers.
  • Safely operate a Greenhills school bus, transporting students to and from designated stops.
  • Drive students to school-sponsored events, athletic contests, and field trips.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all passengers and the vehicle.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and perform/preventive maintenance checks.
  • Maintain required records and logs in compliance with state and school policies.

Requirements
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Valid Michigan driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Experience transporting passengers is preferred.
  • Valid Michigan CDL with B, P, and S endorsements.
  • Michigan Department of Education bus driver card (within three months of hire).
  • Valid medical examiner's certificate.
  • Compliance with federally mandated drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English and knowledge of basic traffic laws.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (provided at Greenhills for those that don't have it)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Physical agility to frequently lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, stand, walk and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs
  • Work in and exposed to outdoor weather elements
