Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Campus Operations is a major unit in the Administration and Finance Division of ECU with approximately 500 employees and annual budget in excess of $30 million. The Campus Operations organization includes Facilities Engineering & Architectural Services, Facilities Services, and Housekeeping Services. Campus Operations is responsible for the support of all University real property including buildings, infrastructure, and grounds. Responsibilities on the University's Main, Health Sciences, West Research Campuses, and satellite locations associated with ECU programs include major and minor renovations and construction; corrective and preventive maintenance and repairs by utilities services (controls, electrical, HVAC, life safety, plumbing, central steam and chilled water operations), building services (carpentry, locksmith, masonry, paint, roofing), automotive services; maintenance of grounds by grounds services, recycling, refuse removal, sustainability; moving services and housekeeping services support of academic, administrative, athletic, classroom, clinical, dining, laboratory, library, performing arts, and residence life spaces.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position will routinely and consistently perform a variety of recurring and non-recurring, controls assignments, both preventative as well as corrective. This involves highly technical work in the installation, set-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of moderately complex to complex building systems (i.e. Field Controller Networks (FCN), Air handling units (AHUs), terminal units Variable air volume (VAV) and Constant air volume (CAV), exhaust fans, chillers, boilers, pumps, compressors, energy recovery units, etc., motor drives (VFD) and instrumentation installation and calibration.
Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
High school diploma or equivalency of related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Requires certification(s).
License or Certification required by statute or regulation

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Understanding of the basic refrigeration process used in mechanical refrigeration and air conditioning systems; to include terminology, safety, and identification and function of components; refrigeration cycle; and tools and instrumentation used in mechanical refrigeration systems is advantageous. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Products and computers is preferred. Knowledge and understanding of any of the following areas will be advantageous: various communications protocols used in the industry including BACnet, LonTalk and Modbus; familiarity with networking applications; familiarity with SCADA systems; Ethernet, TCP-IP, IP Networks and infrastructure; Experience with Carrier-IVue, Trane, Tridium, Johnson Controls, Schneider, or Siemens. A NICET Industrial Instrumentation Level I Certification is preferred.
License or Certification required by the Department
