General Function
The instructor is responsible for delivering classroom/lab instruction for the HVAC program in the Workforce Continuing Education Division. Duties will include planning, implementation, and evaluation of program components, services, and related activities. The instructor will work closely with the Director of Workforce & Trades Education in matters related to and for the benefit of the specific program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging classroom and lab instruction in HVAC fundamentals.
  • Teach according to established course outlines and employer-driven competencies.
  • Demonstrate proper use of HVAC tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Integrate safety, employability skills, and industry best practices into instruction.
  • Ensure proper functioning and care of HVAC training system components.
  • Participate in course updates, curriculum reviews, and industry advisory meetings.
  • Ensure that all necessary documentation is kept current and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Willing to prepare and update material/outlines as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate Degree or Certification in HVAC from an accredited institution or five or more years of direct experience in the HVAC field.
  • Must be willing to obtain the National Center for Construction Education and Research Certification (NCCER) within two months of employment.
  • Experience in training others in a workforce or classroom/lab setting.
  • Willing to teach day or evening classes.
  • Basic computer skills or a willingness to learn.
