Description
At Douglas J, creating an exceptional guest experience starts with the environment around us. We're looking for a hands-on, dependable Maintenance Technician to help keep our Okemos Salon & Spa clean, polished, safe, and running smoothly.
If you enjoy fixing things, working independently, staying ahead of problems, and taking pride in a well-maintained facility, this could be a great fit.
What You'll Do:
  • Handle day-to-day facility maintenance, including light plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, and general repairs.
  • Complete routine inspections of the building, equipment, parking lot, and grounds.
  • Identify and address maintenance needs before they become larger issues.
  • Help ensure the Salon & Spa is clean, organized, and guest-ready, working alongside our third-party cleaning service.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and prioritize work based on urgency and operational needs.
  • Track repairs, service requests, and preventative maintenance.
  • Purchase needed materials and maintain maintenance supplies and inventory.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors when specialized repairs are needed.
  • Assist with facility needs for events, promotions, and other company activities.
  • Support snow removal and plowing of the parking lot during winter weather.

Requirements
  • Previous maintenance, facilities, handyman, or related experience.
  • Comfortable completing a variety of basic repairs and troubleshooting facility issues.
  • Proactive and self-directed-you notice what needs attention and take ownership of getting it handled.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a professional, guest-facing environment.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Availability to work approximately 25 hours per week, primarily Monday-Friday.
  • Flexibility for additional hours and varying start times during winter weather for snow removal and parking lot plowing.

Why Douglas J?
  • Part-time schedule averaging approximately 25 hours per week.
  • Opportunity for additional hours during winter weather.
  • Paid Time Off for eligible employees.
  • 401(k) with company match for eligible employees.
  • Discounts on Douglas J salon products and services.
  • A fast-paced environment where your work makes a visible difference every day.
  • The opportunity to take ownership of a facility and become an important resource for the Salon & Spa team.

Douglas J is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where every team member feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to contribute.
