BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Salon and Body Technician provides exceptional salon, nail, aesthetic, and body treatment services while delivering outstanding guest experiences. This position is responsible for performing professional services according to established protocols, maintaining treatment areas and equipment, promoting retail products and future services, and supporting the overall mission, standards, and culture of Mohonk Mountain House.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Deliver professional salon, nail, aesthetic, and body treatment services according to established service protocols and standards.
  • Attend in-house training programs with the goal of becoming proficient in all assigned services offered by the Spa.
  • Learn, demonstrate, and adhere to service sequences and treatment protocols for all services within the technician’s scope of practice.
  • Provide guests with knowledgeable, personalized treatments while ensuring guest comfort, safety, and satisfaction.
  • Promptly greet guests, escort them to and from treatment areas, and provide facility tours when appropriate.
  • Begin and end all services on time while maintaining treatment quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Anticipate guest needs and consistently provide exceptional customer service to encourage guest retention.
  • Communicate guest concerns, feedback, or service issues to Spa Management in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of all spa and salon services and provide meaningful recommendations for future guest experiences.
  • Promote professional retail recommendations with the goal of achieving established retail-to-service revenue objectives.
  • Attend vendor trainings and educational events as assigned.
  • Maintain knowledge of product ingredients, benefits, contraindications, and potential sensitivities related to allergies or medical conditions.
  • Maintain a valid New York State Cosmetology License, Nail Technician License, and/or Esthetics License as required for services performed.
  • Educate guests on products and wellness recommendations to support continued results and overall well-being.
  • Stock, organize, and maintain treatment rooms, salon stations, and work areas with appropriate supplies, linens, and equipment.
  • Prepare materials and supplies needed for daily operations.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sanitize treatment rooms, salon stations, tools, and equipment according to departmental policies and New York State regulations.
  • Clean and maintain implements including, but not limited to, nail tools, pedicure equipment, brushes, combs, scissors, and aesthetic equipment.
  • Remove soiled linens and dispose of them in designated areas.
  • Safely operate all tools and equipment required to perform services.
  • Inspect equipment regularly and report maintenance or repair needs to Spa Management.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
  • Maintain a minimum availability of three scheduled shifts per week and demonstrate reliable attendance.
  • Communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with guests, management, and team members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Work efficiently and productively with or without direct supervision.
  • Prioritize responsibilities and manage time effectively while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
  • Adhere to Mohonk Mountain House Dress and Grooming Standards, presenting a clean, polished, and professional appearance.
  • Participate in required trainings, meetings, events, and programs that support company policies, service standards, and culture.
  • Learn and consistently demonstrate Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps and Service Strategies.
  • Maintain knowledge of Mohonk Mountain House history and resort information to enhance guest interactions.
  • Immediately report hazardous conditions, emergencies, security concerns, or threats involving guests, employees, or property.
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism in handling lost-and-found items and guest valuables.
  • Maintain awareness of safety procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Speak, read, write, and understand English; communicate clearly with guests, visitors, and employees.
  • Hear verbal instructions, directions, and warnings.
  • Inspect work quality through sight, touch, sound, and smell.
  • Reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, climb, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Walk up to three miles per day.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Safely maneuver carts or dollies carrying up to 100 pounds through indoor and outdoor areas.
  • Possess close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Interact patiently and professionally with guests of all ages.
  • Remain calm and effective in stressful situations and implement solutions to operational challenges.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Current and valid New York State Cosmetology License, Nail Technician License, and/or Esthetics License as required for services performed.
  • Minimum of two years of professional salon, spa, or aesthetic experience preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and retail sales skills.
  • Ability to learn multiple treatment modalities and service protocols.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, sanitation, safety, and guest care.
