Position: Healthcare Programs Coordinator (Part Time)

Department: Workforce and Continuing Education

This is a part time contract position. Applicants should note that this position is not a permanent, continuing appointment, and there is no expectation of renewal or conversion to a regular position.

Position Summary

The Healthcare Programs Coordinator is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in one or more of the following areas: Clinical Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, Basic Life Support (BLS), and/or AHA First Aid.  This position coordinates all instructional, administrative, and operational aspects of these programs to ensure a seamless, student-centered experience from recruitment through certification and externship.  Efficient management and exceptional service will lead to the growth of short-term, non-credit healthcare programming at Columbia State Community College locations beyond existing programs ultimately supporting expansion of the position to a full-time equivalent role.

This role collaborates closely with Workforce and Continuing Education leadership, marketing, grants, and clinical/employer partners to support program growth, compliance, and student success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Program Coordination & Administration

  • Coordinate the scheduling of all sections of assigned clinical programs in the summer, spring and fall semesters.
  • Manage administrative aspects of each program, including:
    • Maintaining  inventory of instructional supplies and consumables
    • Liaison activities with certifying and accrediting bodies
    • Maintenance of compliance, records, and documentation
  • Review applicant materials and participate in student selection processes.
  • Conduct course evaluations and debrief outcomes with the Coordinator of Programs and the Director of Workforce and Continuing Education.

Instruction & Student Engagement

  • Opportunity to teach sections of Clinical Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, BLS, and/or AHA First Aid in accordance with approved curricula and certifying body standards.
  • Creatively engage students to foster a supportive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment where students can thrive.
  • Provide academic and personal support to students, including assistance in case of unexpected life events that may impact the student's ability to complete as expected according to the course calendar.
  • Work with the Testing Center to coordinate proctoring of certification examinations. 

Marketing, Outreach & Partnerships

  • Collaborate with the Coordinator of Marketing to creatively market and promote programs to prospective students and employers including occasional attendance at recruiting events.
  • Coordinate with clinical and externship sites to ensure a high-quality, seamless experience for both students and employer partners.

Grants & Fiscal Coordination

  • Work with the Director of Workforce and Continuing Education and the Coordinator of Grants to ensure grant funds are appropriately allocated to cover program-related costs, which may include:
    • Student tuition
    • Consumables and instructional materials
    • Childcare and other approved student-support expenses

Collaboration & Professional Engagement

  • Attend staff meetings and participate in planning activities as required.
  • Work collaboratively with instructors, staff, and leadership to continuously improve program quality and outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Credentialed or eligible to teach in one or more of the following areas: Clinical Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, BLS, and/or AHA First Aid.
  • Relevant clinical or instructional experience in a healthcare or allied health setting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate complex programs.
  • Commitment to student success and workforce development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education background in the healthcare field such as Nursing or other related discipline.
  • Prior healthcare teaching experience.
  • Experience working in workforce, continuing education, or postsecondary settings.
  • Experience working with certification bodies and/or clinical externship sites.
  • Familiarity with grant-funded programs and budget coordination.
  • Experience supporting adult learners and non-traditional students.

Work Environment, Schedule, Compensation

  • Combination of classroom, lab, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Schedule may include evenings or weekends based on course offerings.
  • Expected time commitment is 10-15 hours per week; Additional compensation for instruction provided for any classes taught
  • Compensation will be discussed in more detail as applicants move through the process.
