Cufiya is a brand new coffee shop soon to fully open in San Diego.  Cufiya is more than a coffee shop — we're a community space rooted in culture, connection, and craft. Located in the heart of San Diego, we serve high-quality coffee, tea, and fresh bites in an environment that uplifts and inspires. We’re seeking a driven and passionate Coffee Shop Manager to help lead our team and grow with us.

As a Barista, you play a crucial role in creating a positive customer experience in our coffee shop. You will be responsible for preparing and serving beverages, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Objectives

  • Prepare and serve high-quality coffee and other beverages according to Cufiya’s standards.
  • Engage with customers to provide friendly, efficient service that enhances their experience.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop to ensure a safe and inviting environment.
  • Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, such as coffee, tea, and specialty drinks
  • Interact with customers to take orders and provide recommendations
  • Operate coffee-making equipment and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Handle cash and card transactions accurately
  • Ensure the presentation and quality of beverages meet the established standards
  • Restock and organize inventory, including coffee beans, syrups, and other supplies
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Manage customer inquiries and resolve any complaints or issues
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain a smooth workflow
  • Follow company policies and procedures at all times

Responsibilities

  • Craft espresso-based drinks and other menu items with precision and consistency.
  • Operate coffee machines and grinders, ensuring proper maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Take customer orders accurately and handle transactions using the point-of-sale system.
  • Provide product knowledge and recommendations to customers.
  • Maintain stock levels and assist with inventory management.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a clean and safe workspace.
  • Collaborate with team members to support smooth daily operations.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues professionally and promptly.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a barista or in a customer-facing role preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of coffee preparation and equipment operation is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Flexible availability including weekends and holidays.
  • Positive attitude with a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a customer service or hospitality role
  • Knowledge of different coffee brewing techniques
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in order taking and preparation
  • Ability to handle cash transactions and use POS systems
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Obtaining a food handler's permit
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Team player with a positive and friendly attitude
