Job description

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for a Peer Review Coordinator to join our Risk Management Team!

The Peer Review Coordinator works in collaboration with and under the guidance of the Director of Risk Management to execute the day-to-day functions of the RM department. Responsible for collecting and coordinating peer review data from multiple sources, synthesizing and preparing reports, tracking peer review activities across departments and providing necessary information to needed departments.


Major Job Duties & Responsibilities

Tracks data to be used for reviews of morbidity and mortality, acute care and emergency readmissions, pathology, blood utilization and preparing reports for medical staff.

Identifying cases for both internal and external peer review, routing them to the appropriate providers, tracking the disposition of reviews and preparing reports for medical staff review.

Monitoring appropriate clinical indicators for selected cases and providing the necessary reports to the medical staff.

Coordination of peer review data with HIM, Medical Staff Services office, and Utilization Review.

Enters risk management event reports into the risk management software program.

Participates in committees as assigned.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Basic data entry computer skills.

Basic statistical analysis skills with an attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to communicate with physicians, peers, patients, department supervisor, and other personnel.

Ability to be self motivated with a willingness to take the initiative for learning and to keep pace with process / regulatory changes.


Experience

Acute care hospital or long term care regulatory requirements knowledge.

Experience in extensively documenting in Excel, Word, PDF's and tracking.


Educational Requirements

High school diploma with medical clinical knowledge.

Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Certified Professional in Utilization Review (CPUR) not required, but encouraged for professional growth.


Schedule

32 hours a week, 4 days a week.
