Position:  Part-Time Registered Nurse

Part-time; not eligible for health insurance benefits
2-3 days per week, 7:30 am-3 pm


Reports To: Building Principal and/or Director of Student Personnel Services Job Goal(s): To assist the school nurse in the smooth and efficient operation of the school's health services in order to realize a positive impact on students and the educational environment. Qualifications:
  1. License to work as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey
  2. New Jersey Substitute Teacher Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
  3. Demonstrated aptitude for the tasks involved
  4. Such alternatives to the above as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Under the direction of the School Nurse, the Registered Nurse will:
    1. Provide temporary care of a student or staff member suffering from an injury or illness.
    2. Administer prescribed medication to student(s) as specified in approved Board policy.
    3. Maintain a complete, up-to-date health record for student(s) in his/her care.
    4. Utilize community health resources when necessary.
    5. Assist in adapting the school environment to accommodate the needs of medically limited  students.
  2. Provide lunch and sub coverage for district Certified School Nurses, as needed.
  3. Assist School Nurses with required health screenings.
  4. Participate in professional growth activities related to the improvement of knowledge and skills.
  5. Perform other nursing/health related duties as may be required.
  6. This position will work in various locations across the district.
Salary: Position is associated with the terms and conditions of the negotiated Agreement with the Paramus Board of Education
