Job description

Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Part Time Nurse (LPN, LVN) is to deliver quality direct resident care under appropriate clinical supervision to adolescents with psychiatric or emotional disorders.
Essential Job Duties
  • Provide general nursing necessary to treatment of youth,
  • Serve as a positive role model for assigned youth,
  • Conduct daily sick call(s),
  • Supervise the administration of all medication, as permitted by license,
  • Supervise all medication procurement and storage,
  • Ensure follow-up instructions from all off campus treatments are followed as scheduled,
  • Meet with RN daily to obtain pertinent data for continuous medical care and update nurse's notes in the medical records,
  • Conduct health education classes for all youth,
  • Assist youth in carrying out activities of daily living, when congruent with the treatment plan and needs, age and developmental level,
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for youth,
  • Transport youth to medical appointments; document visits in medical records and charts and nurse's notes,
  • Attend required training/professional development events and maintain appropriate certification(s) and license(s),
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience
  • Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing (LPN, LVN),
  • Minimum of one year nursing experience,
  • Possess a valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of employment,
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state requirements,
  • Obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid Certification by nationally recognized organization,
  • Travel is required.
