Status: Part-Time with Benefits, 24 Hours per Week plus Call Hours
Shift: Days
Shift Time Schedule: 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. plus Call Hours.
Days: Variable Days (Monday- Friday) plus Call Hours
Salary Scale: $32.50 - $46.15

Position Summary
Shares the responsibility with other members of the health care team to provide care for the patient that is designed to meet his/her total needs. Responsible for the knowledge of aseptic technique, basic knowledge of operative procedures, and instrumentation. Responsible for tasks that extend beyond patient care which are required for the efficient organization and management of the O.R., including admitting and discharging patients, PACU, Circulator/Endoscopy.
Education/Qualifications Required
Current RN License in the State of Iowa. BLS, ACLS, PALS & Mandatory Reporter.
Experience Required
  • 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse in multiple specialties (preferred, not required)
  • Registered Nurse with Operating Room or Ambulatory Surgery setting experience (preferred, not required)

Essential Functions
  • Performs circulator responsibilities in accordance with unit standards on all assigned procedures
  • Demonstrates knowledge of table set-ups, instrumentation, surgeon's preference cards, etc., for all assigned cases
  • Keeps track of all needles, sponges, and instrumentation
  • Provides assistance to the scrub nurse by performing delegated tasks
  • Accepts responsibility to identify patient problems and reports to physicians and other O.R. team members
  • Identifies individual learning needs and pursues appropriate educational programs
  • Participates in unit-based plan for orientation of new employees to prepare them for their specific duties and responsibilities
  • Utilizes resources appropriately and identifies opportunities for cost-containment
  • Serves on committees or performs special projects as needed
  • Performs other duties of a related nature as required
  • Maintains competency through educational opportunities and annual skills assessment
  • Serves as a member of a call team for after hour procedures
