Our 60-bed Medical Surgical unit spans two floors, where our team delivers high-quality, patient-centered care using the nursing process in alignment with established scope and standards of practice. This role reports directly to the Department Director or Manager.
How you'll contribute
A Medical Surgical RN who excels in this role:
  • Performs duties as assigned and requested.
  • Completes focused patient assessments and reassessments based on patient's condition, procedures, medications, and treatments.
  • Adequately assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
  • Provides patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and with specific needs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and ensures correct administration following the six rights to minimize medication errors.
  • Assists physicians with procedures and provides services requiring technical and manual skills.
  • Performs treatments and delivers care within licensure scope.
  • Ensures patient safety by performing all aspects of care in an environment that reduces the likelihood of errors.
  • Operates and manages equipment safely and correctly.
  • Educates patients and families on disease processes and recovery expectations.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for
Applicants should have a current state or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:
  • Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NRP, Handle with Care, preferred within one year of hire.
  • Experience: One-year previous experience preferred
  • Licenses: Must have a current state or compact state RN license.
  • Education: Associate's degree required. BSN preferred.
