Psychiatric nursing is the care of acute and chronic illnesses in a variety of settings, helping prepare patients and families for safe discharge and therapeutic continuum of care. Psychiatric nurses adapt the nursing process to include de‐escalation skills, safety, assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of human responses when caring for patients. Education and Licenses Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Licenses and Certifications: Registered Nurse (KSBN); multistate license allowing practice in Kansas. Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required within 90 days; additional RQI's may be required within 90 days.
