Part Time Remote Developer information
What is a Part Time Remote Developer?
A Part Time Remote Developer is a software professional who works on a part-time basis, typically less than 40 hours per week, and performs their job duties remotely, outside of a traditional office setting. These developers collaborate with teams and clients using online tools and platforms, contributing to software projects, debugging code, and implementing new features. The flexibility of remote, part-time work allows them to manage their schedules and work from any location with internet access. Part Time Remote Developers are often employed by tech companies, startups, or as freelancers for various projects.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Remote Developer, and why are they important?
To thrive as a Part Time Remote Developer, you need strong programming skills, a solid understanding of software development principles, and relevant experience with modern coding languages. Familiarity with version control systems (like Git), cloud platforms (such as AWS or Azure), and remote collaboration tools (like Slack or Jira) is typically required. Excellent time management, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for excelling in a remote, part-time environment. These skills and qualities ensure productivity, seamless collaboration, and high-quality code delivery despite limited hours and remote work constraints.
How do part-time remote developers typically collaborate with their teams to ensure project continuity and communication?
Part-time remote developers commonly use a combination of communication tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, or email to stay connected with their teams. They often participate in regular stand-up meetings, sprint planning sessions, or code reviews via video conferencing, ensuring alignment on tasks and deadlines. Clear documentation, frequent status updates, and proactive communication are key to preventing misunderstandings and keeping projects on track despite varying schedules. This collaborative approach helps maintain momentum and supports seamless handoffs between team members.

Job description
For many young people, childhood has been anything but predictable. YSS is looking for a Part-Time Self-Sufficiency Advocate who can help youth find safety, stability, and something they may not have experienced before-hope.
This position travels and meets with participants in the northwestern Iowa counties of Franklin, Hamilton, Hardin, Wright, and Webster counties.
As a Self-Sufficiency Advocate, you will walk alongside young adults ages 18-21 who have aged out of foster care, as well as participants eligible for PAL (Preparation for Adult Living) services. This is more than case management-it's mentorship, advocacy, and steady support during one of the most critical transitions of their lives.
In this role, you're not just helping young adults "get by." You're helping them build stability where there was chaos, confidence where there was doubt, and independence where there was once uncertainty. You become a consistent presence in a season of transition-part coach, part advocate, part steady voice saying, "You've got this-and I've got you."
What You'll Do...
Deliver Direct Support
Coordinate Care & Monitor Progress
Ensure Compliance & Documentation
This is not a complete list of the responsibilities of this position. Duties may change at any time.
Who You Are...
You believe young adults deserve stability, dignity, and support as they transition into independence. You're skilled at building trust, coordinating services, and providing consistent follow-through that helps turn uncertainty into progress.
What We Provide...
We invest in people-because when you thrive, so do the communities we serve. At YSS, you'll find meaningful work, strong support, and benefits designed for real life.
We want to create a world where youth are valued and empowered to stand strong. To do this, we ask our staff to embrace YSS core values - Commitment, Collaboration, Compassion, Innovation, Integrity, and a "Can Do" Spirit.
MUST HAVES - Required Qualifications
The IDEAL Candidate
We Celebrate Your Story...
Have you navigated recovery from addiction, mental health challenges, trauma, or housing instability? Your lived experience offers a unique, compassionate perspective that can inspire real change. By sharing your story and serving as a role model or mentor, you can make a meaningful impact in the lives of youth and families. Your journey matters. If you're ready to use it to uplift and empower others, we warmly encourage you to apply.
Who We Are...
We're YSS-one of Iowa's largest and longest-standing nonprofits dedicated to putting kids first. Our mission is simple but powerful: spark hope, create opportunity, and help young people thrive.
