Organization Overview:

The Neighborhood Charter Network (NCN) is a grassroots organization that launched in 2016 in order to manage a growing family of schools in Indianapolis, IN. The mission of The Neighborhood Charter Network is to expand educational equity to the communities we serve.


Job Summary:

The Reading Interventionist is responsible for planning and providing direct instruction to a group of students on a daily to weekly basis.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Works with individual students or small groups for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts
  2. Assists students with achieving their academic goals and grade-level standards
  3. Monitors students goals and tracks students progress through use of data systems and progress monitoring tools
  4. Attends regularly scheduled MTSS meetings and provides updates with students progress, manages students goals, and provides recommendations for suggested research-based interventions
  5. Implements instructional programs for the purpose of assisting the teacher in improving student’s academic success through a defined course of study
  6. Create lesson plans for small groups that align to specific group goals and individual learning outcomes
  7. Implements behavior and procedural expectations for small groups that aligns to school-wide expectations
  8. Assists with administering statewide and school diagnostic testing
  9. Values and utilizes feedback from coach to inform instruction
  10. Helps supervise students during morning, lunch and dismissals
  11. Collaborates with grade-level teams, and Special Populations team to modify students work and address students individual learning needs
  12. Participates in staff development training, weekly, to improve job performance
  13. Participates in special events, as assigned
  14. Participate in a weekly coaching meeting with coach.
  15. Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid IN Teacher License
  • 2+ years of experience
  • 40 hours of OG Training (for Literacy Interventionists)
  • Possess a strong understanding of child development, pedagogy, and content.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with teaching using the school curriculum aligned to the role (e.g., Wit and Wisdom, Eureka Math).
  • Proven track of success with content area based on student data.
  • EL certification
