How you'll make an impact:

Responsible for assisting with production and operations of SiriusXM's bipartisan politics and news channel, POTUS. This role supports established live and recorded show workflows under the direction of Producers and Talent, including running the sound board, screening calls, and handling assigned pre- and post-production duties. Additional duties include pulling/editing audio clips, posting clips to social media, and helping with pre-recorded interviews. Incumbents of this position may be assigned to more than one program and perform slightly different functions across programs. Must have ability to work weekends.

What you'll do:

  • Runs sound board for several different news/talk shows and edits audio for on-air use, following established production procedures and direction from Producers and Talent.
  • Screens listener calls into daily live talk shows.
  • Pulls news clips and sound bites to use in daily talk shows.
  • Edits and loads Sunday news programs and pulls news clips for morning show to use on Mondays.
  • Implements daily tasks assigned from the Producer and Talent to meet broadcast deadlines.
  • Works with Producers and Talent on following programming clocks and on-air schedule.
  • Pulls audio clips from interviews and other recorded audio and posts clips to social media as assigned.
  • Assists Producer with setting up pre-taped interviews and pre-show editing.
  • Works with Producers to create/edit "Best of..." programs from archives of past shows for weekend or special re-broadcasting needs.
  • May provide host with news updates and breaking stories, on occasion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you'll need:

  • BS/BA Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in politics/news preferred.
  • No previous professional experience required; internship, college radio, or equivalent hands-on experience running an audio board and screening phone calls preferred.
  • Knowledge of broadcast systems and exposure to daily show production workflows preferred.
  • Familiarity with politics and strong journalism skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; ability to work under deadline pressure.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Ability to project a professional image over the phone and in person. Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on assigned tasks and projects.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be $21/hour and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
