Charlotte County Tourism is seeking a part-time public relations assistant to support public relations, media relations, tourism partnerships, hosted media experiences, special events, and promotional initiatives for the Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor & Convention Bureau.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build relationships with tourism industry partners, travel journalists, and social media influencers.
  • Assist with recruiting and coordinating hosted media and Familiarization tours, including itineraries, accommodations, transportation, dining, and attractions.
  • Draft and proofread press releases, media pitches, and editorial responses.
  • Research tourism trends and identify media and promotional opportunities.
  • Collaborate on social media and content development.
  • Monitor and track media coverage and share results with tourism partners.
  • Prepare media kits and promotional materials and assist with public relations events.
  • Support tourism programs and special events, including the Annual Tourism Celebration and Event Development Program.
  • Maintain records, process related expenditures, prepare reports, and provide general administrative support.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and professional communication to partners, media, vendors, and the public.

Your Purpose & Day-To-Day Journey
Education and Experience:
An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree
    • Preferred:
      • Communications

  • Two (2) years of experience in public relations, digital marketing and social media.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Ability to speak, read, and write in German and/or Spanish.
