Position Summary
TheUNM-Valencia Campus is seeking a Program Manager for the Next Steps: AdultEducation Program.
This is a grant funded position with current funding through 06/30/2027, withthe expectation that funding will renew through 06/30/28.
Under indirect supervision, TheProgram Manager provides leadership and oversight for the daily operations ofthe Adult Education Program, ensuring the effective delivery of programs andservices that support student success. This position coordinates programactivities, oversees student admissions and testing, and supervises full-timestaff and part-time instructors by assigning work, supporting professionaldevelopment, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with universitypolicies and procedures.
The Program Manager writes, manages,and reports on multiple grants; develops and oversees complex program budgets;and ensures grant objectives, milestones, and reporting requirements are met inaccordance with funding requirements. The position monitors expenditures,supports annual grant and fiscal year transitions, and ensures responsiblestewardship of program resources.
The role also collects, analyzes,and reports program data to support decision-making, continuous improvement,and compliance with institutional and external reporting requirements. Inaddition, the Program Manager builds collaborative partnerships, represents theAdult Education program in state-level leadership activities, serves oncommittees, and works with internal and external stakeholders to advanceprogram initiatives and strengthen services for students and the community.
Located about 30 miles south ofAlbuquerque in rural Valencia county, the University of New Mexico-ValenciaCampus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico whichfunctions as a community college in the region and is designated a HispanicServing Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campusoffers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult BasicEducation, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and SocorroCounties.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience 2 of which are management level experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working in an educational environment, preferably with under-prepared learners.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to evaluate program performance, prepare reports, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Advanced technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, data management systems, and other business applications.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, educational institutions, and other external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated commitment to transparency, collaboration, and building trust.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills that promote accountability, collaboration, and staff development.
