Job Title: Red Shield Program Aide

FLSA Status: Part Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Red Shield Program Manager & Asst. Red Shield Program Manager

Rate of Pay: $14.81/hr

Closing Date: 8/26/2025

Benefits: Standard; Part-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

  • Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)
  • Vacation benefit – 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment; vacation accrual is pro-rated for part time hours.)

Scope of Position/Essential Functions:

The Red Shield Program Aide will work daily with the youth in the center to build relationships and foster a friendly and safe environment for youth to grow and thrive. To accomplish this, the After School Program Aide will work with Program Leaders and Directors as a team in delivering programs that best meets the ever-changing needs of our youth.

Qualification and Education Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 months of full-time or equivalent part-time verifiable experience working with children.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the afterschool and summer programming where needed, assisting with supervision, guidance, and caring for children in an educational, enrichment and recreational setting
  • Assist Program Lead with supervision in afterschool pickups from district D-11 school
  • Assist Program Lead with Summer Day Camp transportation supervision to and from scheduled events
  • This position will often provide leadership support to Corps ministry components that are integrated into the afterschool and summer program.
  • Childcare licensing compliance
  • Provide encouraging instruction to students during group activities.
  • Assist the Manager or Leads in the planning, teaching of lessons, homework support, and activities.
  • Assist with food preparation, serving, and clean up.
  • Developing partnerships with parents and responsive relationships with children.
  • Assist in maintaining discipline and encouraging all children to follow rules.
  • Assist in general set up and cleanup of program area and assist with the opening/closing of the facility.
  • Supervise rotations with sign-in and sign-out
  • Lead activities
  • Oversee the supervision of all children and ensure Program Aides are supervising children as required
  • Make sure each child is accounted for always
  • Maintain a safe environment
  • Report all issues (no matter how small) to the Red Shield Director
  • Attend mandatory Staff Trainings

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Must be 18yrs of age for position
