Job Summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College seeks a customer-focused, detail-oriented Part-Time Print Clerk to support the daily operations of the College Print Shop. This position plays a critical role in producing high-quality printed materials that support academic programs, student services, institutional advancement, marketing and communications initiatives, special events, and college operations.
The Print Clerk is responsible for operating digital printing and bindery equipment, processing print requests, ensuring quality control, maintaining inventory, and providing exceptional customer service to faculty, staff, students, and external partners. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and quality.

Job Duties

  • Print Production
    • Operate high-speed digital copiers, commercial printers, large-format printers, and related print production equipment.
    • Process, prepare, and complete print requests accurately and efficiently.
    • Review submitted files for print readiness and communicate with customers regarding specifications and production timelines.
    • Prioritize and manage multiple projects while meeting established deadlines.
  • Bindery and Finishing Services
    • Perform finishing services including cutting, folding, collating, laminating, punching, stapling, spiral binding, and booklet production.
    • Prepare printed materials for distribution, delivery, and special events.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Inspect all completed projects to ensure quality, accuracy, color consistency, formatting, and alignment prior to delivery.
    • Ensure printed materials reflect the College’s branding and professional standards.
    • Identify and correct production issues before final distribution.
  • Customer Service
    • Provide exceptional customer service to faculty, staff, students, and campus partners.
    • Receive and process print requests submitted in person, electronically, or through designated request systems.
    • Communicate project timelines, status updates, and completion notifications in a timely and professional manner.
    • Assist customers in identifying cost-effective and efficient printing solutions.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Operations
    • Perform routine maintenance on printing and bindery equipment.
    • Replenish toner, paper, and supplies as needed.
    • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and coordinate service requests when necessary.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
  • Inventory and Administrative Support
    • Monitor inventory levels of paper, toner, ink, binding supplies, and related materials.
    • Assist with ordering and tracking print shop supplies.
    • Maintain records related to print production, supply usage, and completed projects.
    • Support special projects, commencement activities, institutional events, and other College initiatives as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in digital printing, print production, copy services, graphic reproduction, or a related field.
  • Experience operating commercial printing and bindery equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of digital printing, print production, and finishing processes.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate printing, finishing, and related production equipment safely.

Work Schedule

  • Up to 25 hours per week.
  • Schedule may vary based on departmental needs, special events, commencement activities, and production deadlines.
