Salary: $44.29/hr. - $49.34/hr. Bi-lingual Spanish ($48.28/hr. - $53.78/hr.)

JobSummary:
SAGE is a residential program for child survivors of commercial sexual exploitation. The program serves girls ages 11-17 from around Oregon and provides them with a safe and secure setting in which to move toward their goals, build self-esteem and resilience, and reconnect to the community.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing the health needs of clients and ensuring that proper medical, dental and health care are provided to clients on an ongoing basis. Supervises the health care and health education functions of the program. Facilitates the integration of medical and mental health care of clients in the program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the health services for all youth in residence, ensuring compliance with all pertinent state health care regulations, contract and internal policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that health services staff and treatment staff learn and follow agency policies and procedures regarding health care and administering medications to clients.
  • Oversee/provide training regarding medication dispensation and documentation to program staff, ensuring that medications are available as needed, stored properly, and administered in a timely and safe manner.
  • Ensure that appropriate and adequate infection control activities occur at the program.
  • Administer and oversee nursing healthcare and services, including mental health nursing care/services, to clients, ensuring all daily health care needs are complete and in compliance with state regulations.
  • Coordinate healthcare services between the program and off-campus healthcare providers to maintain appropriate and relevant continuity of client healthcare. Gather and provide relevant documentation to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and discussion.
  • Coordinate with the Medical Director, Program Director, and program staff regarding the youths' medication needs and management of psychiatric medications and psychiatric disorders as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing a thorough knowledge and application of the Sanctuary model and other organizational policies & practices.
  • Participate in staff development, in-services, and training related to workplace effectiveness; model professional behaviors and implement improvements to business practices with awareness of their impact in a trauma-informed behavioral healthcare organization.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Ability to deliver primary care to youth in the program.
  • Knowledge of psychotropic medication; purposes and side effects.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and writing with a broad variety of people, including staff, and supervisors.
  • Ability to coordinate, manage and complete various tasks a timely and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, discretion and judgment while working with a variety of people.
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries while working with others and in handling confidential information.

  • Demonstrates sufficient knowledge to support clients experiencing a mental health crisis including de-escalation techniques and facilitating access to appropriate crisis services.
  • Understands and complies with mandatory reporting requirements. Use developmentally appropriate and trauma informed approach to follow agency protocol for assessment and intervention.
Required Position Qualifications:
  • Current licensure as a RN in Oregon required.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in mental health treatment, patient assessment and triage skills required.
Preferred Position Qualifications:(Additional skills, experience, or education that are not required but would make a candidate especially well-suited for the job).
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English, written, read and verbal required. Must clear a language proficiency test for Spanish.
  • Experience in child and/or adolescent health care preferred.
Other Requirements:
  • Must complete bloodborne pathogens training first day of employment and annually thereafter.
  • Able to pass a comprehensive criminal history background investigation
  • Must work some evenings and some weekends, as needed and scheduled.
  • Must be available for periodic, medically related, on-call coverage
  • CPR/SFA obtained within 30 days of employment and kept current.
  • TB testing required within 30 days of employment
  • Must complete and maintain required trainings.
  • Must pass language testing if applicable
For positions that require driving:
  • Must hold valid driver's license- Oregon or Washington within 30 days of hire
  • If driving personal vehicle, must maintain minimum auto insurance policy
Working Conditions:
  • Environment: Work is done in clinical offices, community settings, including Morrison Residential, administration buildings, public locations, and social service sites. Breaks and meals are subject to interruption. Universal Precautions and remaining alert to the environment are critical to address the potential for violent behavior, exposure to disease, biohazards, noise, and contaminants.
  • Mental demands:Work assigned is diverse and may involve addressing new and unique circumstances. The work might be unpredictable and disrupts planned tasks, requiring flexible time management.
  • Physical demands:Ability to remain calm and emotionally available serving youth, adults and or families who have experienced trauma. Proficient with office equipment and physical movement. Ability to perform physical interventions if needed in accordance with program and training. Physical dexterity for reaching, stooping, and repetitive wrist and hand motions.
