Position Overview

Canvassers will support a client-facing grassroots campaign focused on improving quality of life in Fresno through civic engagement, strategic advocacy, and leadership development. This role centers on door-to-door outreach, engaging residents in meaningful conversations that drive civic participation and community impact.

The ideal canvassers are passionate about social change, comfortable with face-to-face community engagement, and motivated by people-powered work. Candidates should be reliable, personable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while representing the campaign and Street Level Strategy with professionalism.



What You Will Achieve

Field Canvassing & Voter Engagement

  • Drive Community Outreach: Conduct door-to-door canvassing to inform residents about local initiatives and key issues.
  • Increase Civic Participation: Encourage community involvement through direct, one-on-one conversations.
  • Educate & Empower Residents: Clearly explain relevant issues and how individuals can take action.
  • Ensure Data Accuracy: Accurately log all canvassing activity in CRM systems (PDI) with strong attention to detail.
  • Maintain Trust & Confidentiality: Handle all resident information professionally and ethically.
  • Build Meaningful Connections: Address concerns, dispel misinformation, and turn conversations into impactful action.

Community Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Represent the Campaign Professionally: Serve as a positive and informed representative in the field.
  • Strengthen Community Relationships: Build rapport with residents by actively listening and responding to concerns.
  • Inspire Local Leadership: Motivate community members to take an active role in their communities.


Who You Are

  • Fluent in English and Spanish and comfortable communicating with diverse communities
  • 12 years of experience in canvassing, advocacy, or community outreach preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect authentically with people
  • Detail-oriented with strong data-entry accuracy
  • Comfortable using digital tools for tracking and communication
  • Self-directed, reliable, and able to manage time effectively
  • Physically able to walk door-to-door for up to 4 hours with limited breaks
  • Have reliable transportation and can travel to canvassing sites throughout Fresno

Preferred

  • Familiarity with or strong ties to the Fresno community
  • Experience using Google Docs, Google Sheets, PDI Mobile Connect, or similar tools


Schedule & Duration

  • Start Date: August 2026

Schedule:

  • MondayWednesday: 3:00 PM 7:00 PM
  • Saturday & Sunday: 9:30 AM 6:30 PM

Expectations:

  • Team members must work a minimum of 20 hours per week
  • Availability for weekend shifts is required
  • Must be able to maintain predictable and reliable attendance
  • Must be able to work 5 days in-person during scheduled shift hours
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends
