Summary of Job The City of Lodi, WI is seeking a team-oriented candidate to join the Lodi Police Department. This is a part-time, non-exempt position without benefits. The authorized wage range is $29.07 - $36.95 per hour (commensurate with experience and qualifications)

The City of Lodi Police Department is a full-service police organization that provides safety and enforcement services to more than 3,000 city residents. General Statement of Job, Duties, & Responsibilities Statement of Job The statements included in the Position Description reflect, in general, the duties and responsibility of this position and are not to be interpreted as being all-inclusive. This position reports to the Police Sergeant and functions as a uniformed police officer providing services that include, but are not limited to, police patrol, traffic control and enforcement, accident investigation, crime prevention and investigation, response to citizen complaints, and calls for assistance. This sworn position is responsible for the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances.

Duties and Responsibilities Performs police duties that include but are not limited to foot patrol, vehicle patrol, traffic control, traffic direction, traffic enforcement, accident investigation, local ordinance and State Statute enforcement, criminal investigations, and responding to calls for service. Focuses on building positive relationships between law enforcement and the public to prevent crime and solve problems through collaboration. In the absence of the Chief of Police or Police Sergeant, the senior Police Officer on duty is the officer in charge.

Safeguards and preserves all property under the control of the police department. Performs all duties assigned, including department meetings, continuing education, and in-service training. Serves under the direction of the Chief of Police or Police Sergeant.

Receives policy guidance from the Chief of Police or Police Sergeant. Other duties as assigned. Acceptable Experience & Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Prior police experience desired or the ability to be certifiable. Associate's Degree or sixty college credits upon hire or ability to obtain within five years. Knowledge of criminal law, local law, and civil rights.

Certification or capacity to meet certification requirements established for police officers under Sec. 165.85(4) of Wisconsin State Statutes. Certifications in Firearms, Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Possess a current driver's license and be eligible for a Wisconsin driver's license. No felony convictions or domestic related incidents. United States Citizen Additional Information Tools and Equipment Used Tools and equipment used by the Police Officer includes but is not limited to police vehicle, radios and related communication equipment, radar gun, computers, firearms, conducted energy weapons, intoxilyzer, Preliminary Breath Test (PBT), Oleoresin Capsicum (OC), and cameras.

Proficient in Microsoft programs including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other city and police specific programs. Performance of routine tasks associated with this position requires a capacity to intermittently sit, talk, hear and see. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, run, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, jump, climb, kick or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, turn, or crawl, push or pull objects and people, drive at high speeds; taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and or move moderately heavy objects (over one hundred pounds) objects.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, night vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Statement of Working Conditions The performance of tasks may involve physical risk to safety and health of police officers operating under emergency conditions increased stress levels, and may require the use of firearms. Work maybe performed out of doors and in inclement weather.

Work schedules may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime work hours. Position Accountability Reports To: Police Sergeant Supervision Exercised: None Selection Guidelines The selection procedure may consist of any or all of the following: Initial interview, background investigation, Police Commission interview, psychological evaluation, and physical examination with alcohol/drug screening. Other procedures may be included as necessary.

This position is appointed by the Chief of Police subject to approval by the Police Commission. The position description does not constitute an employment agreement between the employer and employee and is subject to change by the employer as the needs of the employer and the requirements of the job change.
