Job Description

This position is a one-year, part-time, multi-platform Producer position. You will be required to write, edit, create and produce news content for broadcast or digital platforms based on daily newsroom needs. This role requires strong editorial judgment, adaptability, and the ability to deliver accurate, compelling content under deadline.

Dates: July 27, 2026-July 26, 2027.

  • Responsible for overall production and content of newscasts on any platform
  • Write news scripts, teases, headlines for broadcast and edit video
  • Execute live shots and communicate with anchors during live newscasts
  • Respond to breaking news with accuracy and urgency
  • Contribute to the creation of videos for OTT, FAST and all platforms
  • Collaborate with reporters on daily stories to deliver content across all platforms
  • Write text articles, create and publish videos, photos and podcast for our website
  • Curate YouTube channels
  • Manage video livestreams when necessary
  • Stay well-informed of daily news events and knowledgeable of the San Diego news market
  • Contribute story ideas, participate in daily coverage decisions and editorial meetings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as broadcast line producer and/or digital producer
  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism or related field
  • At least 1-year prior news editing experience
  • Familiarity with Adobe Premiere and/or other editing programs
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to react to breaking news, updating the news as stories evolve and write intros and leads to video online content
  • Experience working with online publishing tools or content management system
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AP style writing and guidelines
