Job Description
The Customer Reliability Engineer Intern will learn critical knowledge needed to effectively represent the company at an in-plant site as a Customer Reliability Engineer. The role is designed to give a Mechanical Engineer student exposure to John Crane mechanical seals and related products through hands-on work. This is accomplished by working rotations in the Inspection/Repair, Maintenance, Assembly, and Engineering/Sales Departments.
This is a part-time (benefits eligible) year-around role with flexible hours based on school schedule.
Must attend school in the Port Arthur, Texas area.
  • Inspects, disassembles, and cleans mechanical seal parts.
  • Reviews part print drawings and makes judgements on parts reparability.
    Laps mechanical seal faces to design tolerances.
  • Assembles mechanical seals, pressure tests, and prepares for shipment.
  • Conducts mechanical seal failure analysis and failure root cause analysis.
  • Assist Sales Team with field needs and customer inside support.
  • Works with branch and regional engineering team for customer process application reviews.
  • Works with Reliability Engineers to run calculations over new and existing seal designs.
  • Communicates with stakeholders at various levels and disciplines.

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university-level Mechanical Engineering program. having completed at least two years in the program.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Mechanical aptitude; willing to work in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Some CAD experience; solid modelling a plus.
  • Effective written and spoken communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English, bilingual a plus.
  • Experience working with a diverse group is a plus.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
