Job description

Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) | West Lake Worth, FL 33467| FT, PT & Per Diem
Behavioral Health (SUD & MH) | 12-Hour Shifts

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking compassionate and dedicated Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) for full-time, part-time, and per diem opportunities at our Lake Worth, FL facility. Palm Beach County has one of the most active and established recovery communities in the country — and one of the highest needs for skilled, caring people to support it. This role puts you at the center of that work, at our largest and busiest center, with the backing of a nationally recognized organization behind you.

This is a meaningful role for someone who understands the recovery journey — through professional experience, personal experience, or both — and wants to be a consistent, trusted presence for people working hard to change their lives.

About Banyan Treatment Centers

Banyan Treatment Centers is a leading national provider of intensive treatment for individuals facing substance use and mental health disorders. Backed by TPG’s Rise Fund, Banyan is rapidly expanding access to high-quality, compassionate care.

Why Join Our Team?

  • High-impact work at scale — our Lake Worth facility is Banyan's largest and busiest center, supporting patients across detox, residential, and PHP levels of care with complex clinical, social, and recovery needs. Every shift matters here.
  • Meaningful growth potential — the size and breadth of this facility creates real opportunity to develop skills, take on responsibility, and advance — whether your path leads toward clinical care or operations.
  • Mission-driven work at a Joint Commission–accredited organization with the stability, resources, and reach of a national provider — right in your own community.
  • Direct impact — support patients through structured daily programming across both SUD and mental health tracks, helping them build the skills and accountability needed for lasting recovery.
  • 12-hour shifts — fewer days, longer shifts, and more time to enjoy everything South Florida has to offer.
  • Flexible scheduling — FT, PT, and per diem openings mean you can find an arrangement that works for your life.
  • Lived experience valued — personal familiarity with recovery is genuinely respected and welcomed on our team.
  • Collaborative environment — work alongside therapists, medical providers, and a multidisciplinary team committed to trauma-informed care across a full continuum of treatment.

Benefits

Eligible full-time team members receive comprehensive benefits including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance and disability coverage
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Wellness incentives and employee assistance programs

Part-time and per diem team members may have access to select benefits; details provided during the hiring process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of structured daily programming and group coordination across detox, residential, and PHP levels of care
  • Build consistent, trust-based relationships with patients to reinforce engagement and progress
  • Monitor patients and the facility environment; conduct regular safety checks
  • Communicate patient observations and needs to clinical and medical staff
  • Ensure adherence to program structure and facility rules
  • Document observations, safety checks, and incidents accurately and in a timely manner
  • Transport patients to and from program and community appointments
  • Measure and record vital signs
  • Conduct UDS and breathalyzer testing in accordance with company policy
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement throughout the program day
  • Recognize signs of clinical concern and refer appropriately to therapy or medical staff
  • Keep Team Leaders and the Supervisor/Operations Director informed of relevant patient information
  • Assist with supply management, discharge preparations, and day-to-day facility operations

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, empathy, and composure in high-stress or crisis situations
  • Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Driving roles require: valid driver's license, 3-year record of safe driving, minimum age of 21, and ability to meet company motor vehicle insurance requirements

Preferred:

  • Personal or professional familiarity with the local recovery community; lived experience is highly valued
  • Work experience in substance use disorder or mental health treatment
  • Experience supporting patients in inpatient or detox levels of care
  • Relevant behavioral health certification
