Job Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Gallery & Art Collection Manager in overseeing the college's permanent art collection consisting of 800+ artworks across several campuses.
Inventory artworks: measure, identify media, research missing info, enter information into a database, basic photography, basic photo editing, file management.
Support the implementation of 13 gallery exhibitions annually at South City campus: update gallery store website for new exhibits, promote exhibitions on social media and other websites, generate wall labels, help set up for and work opening receptions.
Assist with installation of art exhibitions with track and cable hanging system and installation of collection art with security hardware and info placards.
Professionalism is a must. Applicant should be detail oriented in all aspects of the job, from cataloging information to handling the art itself. Adhering to best practices around safe art handling is crucial. Strong written communication skills will be necessary to record accurate information with precision. A cooperative attitude and good oral communication skills are key. The applicant will work closely with the Gallery & Art Collection Manager. Be open minded and ready to learn.
Work will take place mostly at Redwood and South City campuses. Good communication will be necessary to coordinate effectively. Independent transportation is a plus but not mandatory.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
General familiarity with fine art.
Ability to enter information into a database with precision.
Familiarity with basic hand tools i.e. electric drill, level, anchors, etc.
Basic photography and photo editing.
Familiarity with Instagram and other social media.
Minimum qualifications
Current SLCC Student

This position requires U.S. work authorization.
GPA 2.0
Participate in professional development activities.
Work 15-20 per week.
