Summary of Position
Part-time Pharmacology faculty is an instructional position directly responsible to the Chair for the Department of Nursing and Allied Health. The instructor's duties and responsibilities are teaching students and performing a variety of administrative duties.
Education and Experience
Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Pharmacology related to the coursework to be taught and three years of teaching experience at the post-secondary or secondary level in Pharmacology preferred.
Compensation is based on type of course and number of students, paid by Part time employment agreement.
Knowledge Skills and Ability
  • Must possess a demonstrated knowledge in the subject matter being taught and the ability to communicate with students in a clear manner and to author tests and lesson plans.
  • Must possess the ability to provide academic and vocational guidance to students as needed.
  • Experience using educational technology and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard).
  • Ability to manage email and respond to emails in a timely manner.
  • Commitment to working with diverse and under prepared student populations.

Essential Functions
  • Must possess a demonstrated knowledge in the subject matter being taught and the ability to communicate with students in a clear manner and to author tests and lesson plans.
  • Must possess the ability to provide academic and vocational guidance to students as needed.
  • Demonstrate effective class management, providing maximum opportunity for student progress.
  • Demonstrate organization and development of materials for course presentation, utilizing syllabi and textbooks approved by department.
  • Ensure the course objectives, as defined in the syllabus, are accomplished.
  • Prepare and administer examinations that cover all materials taught and provide prompt feedback on assignments and exam results.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records on each student and submit required certification roles by the required deadline.
  • Monitor progress of students and counsel on a timely basis, when required.
