Job description

Always There In-Home Care is a home health agency locally owned and operated by a RN. Our company provides an array of home health services to pediatric patients as well as seniors including private duty nursing, skilled nursing, respite care, flexible family support services, and personal assistant services. We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced caregiver/CNA to provide supervision and companionship for a male client with the following diagnoses:

  • Dementia (with periods of agitation)
  • PTSD
  • Anxiety
  • Catatonia (occasional episodes where he stops moving or falls asleep suddenly)
  • Neuropathy (requires leg elevation for relief)
  • Incontinence (bowl and bladder control issues)

What Weโ€™re Looking For:

The ideal caregiver will have previous hands-on experience working with clients with dementia, schizophrenia, paranoia, or anxiety-related conditions. The right person should be calm, understanding, and able to gently redirect when the client becomes agitated.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervision & companionship engage client in conversation, encourage light activity, and ensure safety.
  • Personal Careย assist with showers, toileting, incontinence care, dressing, and mobility support.
  • Light housekeeping (clientโ€™s areas, laundry, dishes, sanitizing kitchen/bathroom, etc.).
  • Meal support ย prepare light meals/snacks if wife is unavailable (no snacks outside water unless directed).
  • Encourage regular bathroom use and assist with hygiene.
  • Provide emotional support by using positive, encouraging communication.
  • Respect clientโ€™s dignity, maintain patience, and avoid confrontation.

Requirements:

  • CNA license or prior professional caregiver experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with dementia, schizophrenia, paranoia, or mental health-related care.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and redirect behaviors with patience.
  • Reliable transportation, punctuality, and strong communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable redirecting client gently during episodes of paranoia, confusion, or agitation.
  • Must be able to recognize and safely manage catatonia episodes (waking client gently).
  • Caregiver will work closely with the clientโ€™s wife, who is primary caregiver.
