Job description

To support the medical records department through variety of clerical, technical and related support services.
*Pay Range: $23/hr. to $27/hr.
Work Schedule: Varied Days
Essential functions
  • Sort and File dictated reports in unit charts and discharge charts.
  • Retrieve discharge charts and thinned records from nursing units.
  • Assemble IP and OP discharged charts according to chart order.
  • File thinned records in patient's discharge charts.
  • Verify patient's information is correct on all reports in the medical records.
  • Audit discharge charts for missing written reports, dictations, unsigned orders and other chart forms.
  • Flag deficiency with appropriate color coded physician flags.
  • Enter deficiency in computer, print deficiency form and file in chart.
  • Clear deficiency in computer once completed by physician.
  • Assist with phone inquiries, request and release of copies of medical records.
  • Retrieve charts for physicians and other staff.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Knowledge of medical coding.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of health information management systems.
